I never knew what happened if you DIDN’T input the commands to stop the thresher in time! How like Chrono Trigger to make the result of that a poignant character moment rather than just a game over screen or something trite. For all its flaws, Brütal Legend has one of the most beautiful worlds ever created. That game is full of jaw dropping beauty and is as pure a love letter to heavy metal as has ever existed.

To be honest, I’d say the world of Lunar Silver Star Story. I’ve played just about every version of this game, from the Sega CD, Sega Saturn and the PSX Complete, to the GBA (Lunar Legend) and PSP (Silver Star Harmony).

My favorite gaming “world” is a galaxy - Mass Effect. I felt like that series brought together the best parts of Star Wars, Star Trek, and Battlestar Gallactica into one perfect dish. Read more
