Software emulation is never without its hiccups. Its great that most of the xbox one’s BC titles have run as well as they have, though its strange that a first party title would be one of the worst offenders. If I remember correctly, the original Halo games ran pretty much flawlessly on the 360 while other games… Read more
Gears Judgment runs like shit but I never played the 360 version so maybe that's normal. Read more

It’s honestly my favorite MGS game. It’s the sole reason I played the entire series. Read more
Mario Maker is my goty, too, but it has nothing to do with other people’s levels. I love the freedom and ease of designing my own levels in Mario. I spend hours designing and perfecting a level, and it feels like 15 minutes have passed. There's really no other game out there like Mario Maker. Read more
SOMA was too linear for my tastes and Destiny forces multiplayer on it’s users so I’ll never play it. Fallout 4 should have been here in place of one of those two, but that’s just my opinion. Completely agree that game of the year is Mario Maker. I own a Wii U but not an Xbox One simply because of that game. Read more
Sorry, I don’t like The Phantom Pain at all. It’s just a game that says go here in the desert and do this, go here in Africa and do this. Go get some men and build a new base that you also have to manage. I prefer games that I can play in different locations and do things. For example, in Guns of the Patriots, I was… Read more

I too now have a rivalry with Dan Ryckert. If he’s the reason why Bloodborne didn’t get #1, then it’s on Dan. I feel like Bruce Almighty screaming at people “LOVE BLOODBORNE!” Bloodborne is in my top 5 all time, and I feel like it’s not getting much love because it came out too early in the year for everyone to… Read more
She’s just a genetically modified soldier who has to breath thru her skin, so she’s actually DRINKING the water she’s splashing around in. So, if you think about it, they HAD to have the only female character in the game completely mute for 99% percent of the experience and she HAD TO drink thru her skin (and later… Read more
I can’t with Mario Maker. I get it, but taking something that existed on the internet for years, combining it with Little Big Planet, who Nintendo executives outright said many years ago they were jealous of, loved it, and wished they had done it first should not be anywhere close to game of the year.

Hey Patrick. Your list almost echoes my own. :) When you’re done torturing yourself with hard Super Mario Maker levels, I still have a full traditional game for you. Read more
I use the hell out of Quiet. She’s damn near game breakingly good on certain missions. But I absolutely agree that Kojima’s guilt tripping and saying that we’d be ashamed for being critical when we found out why she was essentially naked was just silly. Her body and it’s...um...features are very prominently displayed.… Read more
Great list! I’ve got to say though, I think the reason I share your feelings on Fallout is almost solely down to me playing The Witcher 3 this year. Without it, my storytelling expectations might not have been raised so high. Read more
